Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation the Legal Officer will be responsible for the provision of legal expertise and support to the Corporation, by providing legal advice or opinions, drafting /or reviewing contracts and providing comments and guidance in relation to legal matters.

JOB SPECIFICATION
 
Core Functions:
 
The incumbent is responsible for resolving the property tax delinquency cases and other Local Government tax types.  This involves collecting delinquent taxes. Also involves securing voluntary compliance with the Tax Laws and Regulations.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following posts on a contractual basis at the Portmore City Municipality:-

The Local Economic Development Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer or other designated person.  The individual is responsible for coordinating LED initiates aligned to the economic development priorities and the Clarendon Local Sustainable Development Plan of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Planning, the incumbent is responsible for the effective operations of the AMANDA system to facilitate the processing of all development applications.

Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Compliance Officer has prime responsibility for ensuring revenues such as Property Taxes, General Revenues with which the Council has direct responsibility for realizing are collected and are able to fund the budget prepared for the fiscal year.
 To manage the Compliance/Enforcement process as it relates to the Laws under the Building Act, Town & Country Planning Act, Town Nuisance Act, Fire Regulation, Amusement Regulation and the Public Health (Barbers & Hairdressers) regulations etc.
