Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Local Economic Development (LED) Officer (GMG/AM4) [Contract].
JOB PURPOSE
The Local Economic Development (LED) Officer is responsible for coordinating LED initiatives aligned to the economic development priorities of Kingston & St. Andrew.
Qualifications and Experience:
BSc. Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Political Science or a similar discipline
Understanding of business support, economic development and business research
At least two (2) years experience in a similar capacity
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of local economic development and Local Government’s role
Knowledge of the Laws and regulations relating to the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation
Ability to use Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Business administration and project support skills
Knowledge of office practices and procedures, office supplies and equipment.
Ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and staff
Ability to deal with difficult situations and present a positive Corporation image
Demonstrate ability to work within a team environment
Ability to gain cooperation and communicate both verbally and in written form to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Proven ability in demonstrating initiative, exercise judgment and work unsupervised
Ability to prioritise and perform a number of tasks or projects simultaneously with accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to draft correspondence, reports, promotional materials and other related business documents
Salary Range: $1,206,296 - $1,433,907 per annum
Motor Vehicle Upkeep Allowance: $707,448.00 per annum (own a m/vehicle)
$260,484.00 per annum (without a car)
DUTIES
Facilitate the development and implementation of LED Strategies; monitoring, reviewing and evaluating local area economic profiles and policies
Assist with the improvement of policies targeted at creating an enabling economic environment
Organize events and mobilize communities on behalf of the KSAMC
Act as liaison between local organizations, communities and individuals concerning local economic development
Support and coordinate the governance structures related to LED within the scope of the local authority
Prepare reports, make recommendations/presentations and attend meetings as required
