Drain Cleaning

Drain Cleaning is conducted on monthly basis in all divisions, on a needs basis.  Most of the drains cleaned are earth drains; however there are few that have been paved overtime by the St. Thomas Parish Council, in a bid to mitigate the impact of flooding within the affected communities. Some of the drains that have been paved are:

  • Pattoo Gully Drain - Seaforth Division
  • Logwood  - Yallahs
  • Duckensfield - Dalvey
  • Duppy River - Port Morant
  • Hope Road - Morant Bay
  • Botany Bay - White Horses
  • Llandewey Drain - Llandewey

The Parish Council has over fifty (50) drains that are maintained within the ten (10) political divisions. Note that during the month of May and June, the Council embarks on a critical drain exercise where funding comes from the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development to administer the cleaning of the drains that are deemed critical drains.
